After the Bihar government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave its approval to a caste-based census, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said on Friday it was a victory for his father Lalu Prasad Yadav and the people of the state.

“This is a victory for Lalu ji and the people of Bihar. This has been our cause from the beginning, we all have taken it to the final stage. All political parties have accepted our path. We thank them. C It’s a historic step,” said Tejashwi Yadav.

“It was very important in bringing the poor, the oppressed and the people on the line to the mainstream. You will now have scientific data and based on this you can decide who are the people who are being left behind and what that one should be made for which caste,” he added.

Meanwhile, the government has allocated a budget of Rs 500 crore for the investigation. The exercise will be completed in February next year.

At the state level, the investigation will be conducted by the Department of General Administration, and at the district level, the DM will be the nodal officer. Both will be in charge of panchayat level and block level.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Kumar on Thursday.

The leaders of the nine political parties were present at the meeting and made important suggestions to the Chief Minister.

In conversation with reporters, Chief Secretary of Bihar, Amir Subhani said, “The caste-based survey has been approved and is to be carried out by the state. At the state level, it be carried out by the General Administration Department at the district level. be the nodal officer. Both will be in charge of the panchayat level and the block level.” “Meanwhile, efforts would be made to carry out investigations on an economic basis. Rs 500 crores will be granted for the investigation. A target of completing it by 2023 has been set,” he added.
