It looks like Ubisoft won’t be hosting its usual E3-style presentation this year. A story on Axios reveals that the publisher likely won’t hold another event until later in 2022.

Ubisoft had held timed showcases at E3 every June for years, but a company representative told Axios that the publisher wouldn’t have another until “later this year.”

The Ubisoft Forward event last year saw the official reveal of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Without this showcase, Nintendo could potentially share more details about this game during one of its own Direct presentations in the near future.

In Ubisoft’s latest earnings report, it was reconfirmed that the game is still on track for 2022, but there’s still no solid release date. He also shared what else to expect this year:

For 2022-23, we plan to return to significant revenue growth. It will primarily be powered by a diverse lineup of premium games, including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™, Mario + Rabbids®: Sparks of Hope, and Skull & Bones®, as well as other exciting titles. This growth will also benefit from our Free-to-Play versions, especially those based on our largest IP addresses.

Another “exciting release” coming to the Switch is the recently announced Rabbids: Festival of Legends. This multiplayer board game was originally exclusive to China and will finally release on Nintendo’s hybrid system here in the west at the end of this month.

What do you think of Ubisoft skipping the busiest month of the year? Looking forward to one of its next releases? Tell us in the comments.
