Suspect arrested after shots were fired at officers in southeast Albuquerque

The suspect was taken into custody on Thursday evening

A suspect is in custody after shots were fired at Albuquerque police officers Thursday night. Once they arrived, shots were fired in the direction of the officers. A standoff ensued for several hours. Four people eventually left the building where the shots were fired, but only one person was arrested. The incident is still under investigation, as police continue to work to determine who actually shot the officers.

An APD spokesperson said officers were investigating a call for gunfire in the 600 block of Espanola St. SE. Once they arrived, shots were fired in the direction of the officers.

A stalemate ensued for several hours. Four people eventually left the building where the shots were fired, but only one person was taken into custody.
