In 2017, Sony’s Insomniac games famous tweeted what it is Spider Man was a “permanent PS4 exclusive” that would “never appear on Xbox or PC”. Welp, Sony just announced that the Spider-Man series is arrives on PC, with Spider-Man Remastered arriving on August 12, 2022 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales come in the fall.
Sony slightly acknowledged its previous ultimatum (“It’s true…), while emphasizing that the port is not due to a lack of success on PS4 or PS5. He said the series has now sold out. selling over 33 million copies worldwide as of May 15, 2022, making it one of Sony’s biggest first-party hits.
From the images featured in the teaser, the visuals look quite nice. The remastered version features adjustable render settings and ray-traced reflections, and of course you’ll be able to use your keyboard and mouse. The game “will include the complete main story and its continuing narrative in Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps DLC,” featuring three Peter Parker story chapters accompanied by additional missions and challenges, according to Insomniac.
Despite the “never” tweet, a Spider-Man port seemed much more likely after Sony bought Nixxes, a studio known for porting games to PC. Nixxes actually got the job done, saying it’s focused on “creating the best PC experience possible that takes advantage of all the exciting possibilities the PC platform has to offer.” As mentioned, Spider-Man Remastered arrives on August 12 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales soon after in the fall. More information on both games will arrive closer to launch dates.
