PSVR2’s Horizon Call of the Mountain massively updated in new teaser

Horizon Call of the Mountain, as you may recall, was officially announced by Firesprite and Guerrilla earlier in the year. Sony showed a very short trailer for the tent pole PSVR2 title, and promised more news soon. This information should arrive during State of play later today, as confirmed by PlayStation on social media with a short teaser clip.

This short video, spotted by PSVR without parole, saw a massive upgrade from the original trailer. While that clip was jaw-dropping – arguably some of the best VR graphics we’ve seen to date – the new one shows a huge leap forward in lighting, foliage density, and overall detail.

In the video, you see a Tallneck walking overhead, and it’s important to remember how awesome the scale of that will be in VR. Sony has a huge challenge demonstrating the PSVR2 experience in traditional flatscreen trailers – like PSVR as owners know, the sense of perspective is vastly different when wearing the headset, but those visuals are impressive even by non-VR standards.

It’s going to be an absolute spectacle, we think. While there are plenty of amazing VR games available to play, there has been a real lack of investment in AAA content, outside of perhaps Half-Life Alyx. With the PSVR2 Specifications being so far ahead of everything else on the market, and with two talented first-party teams put to work here, expect this to be a truly jaw-dropping title.
