Louisiana juvenile detainees who escaped with security guard arrested: police

Three juvenile detainees who escaped from a Louisiana detention center on Saturday morning, potentially with the help of a security guard, have all been arrested and taken into custody, officials said.

The Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Saturday alerting the community that security guard Victoria Tune, 21, allegedly assisted TyJuan Lafitte and Jeremiah Durham, both 17, and Na’Varaya Lane , 15, to escape from Ware youth detention. Center in Coushatta, Louisiana in a white 2010 Pontiac G6. A day later, the bureau announced that the detainees had been arrested and taken into custody.

The inmates were apprehended in Texas by the Houston Police Department around 2 a.m. Sunday after investigators located the getaway car in a motel parking lot, the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Inmates TyJuan Lafitte, Jeremiah Durham and Na’Varaya Lane were apprehended on Sunday after escaping from Ware Youth Detention Center in Coushatta, Louisiana the day before.

Investigators watched the unoccupied vehicle for several hours before the suspects returned to it, at which time the inmates and Tune were rounded up and arrested, the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

“In a joint effort of the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, the LA State Police G Troop Investigations Unit, the Parish Sheriff’s Office from Bossier, the LA Fusion Center and the Houston Police Department’s Crime Enforcement Team, the unoccupied getaway car driven by Victoria Tune was located in the parking lot of a Houston motel where she was kept under surveillance by HPD for several hours,” the statement read.

FIVE JUVENILES ESCAPE FROM LOUISIANA PRISON

“All suspects will be extradited to Louisiana where they will face additional charges relating to the escape,” the statement continued.

The incident came less than a week after a case in Alabama that drew national attention, where security guard Vicky White helped inmate Casey White escape from prison. The inmate was recaptured on Monday after the pair crashed into their car and were surrounded by law enforcement. Vicky White committed suicide during the attempted arrest.
