Lisa Cook wins Senate confirmation at Federal Reserve

The Senate voted to confirm Lisa Cook at the Federal Reserve, making her the first black woman to serve on the central bank’s board.

Ms Cook was endorsed on Tuesday in a vote to the party line, 51-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie. Ms Cook is President Biden’s second Fed nominee to win Senate confirmation, after the Fed governor Lael Brainardwho was named vice president of the central bank last month.
