Katy ISD confirms stabbing victim worked for district

KATY, Texas (KTRK) — A woman stabbed to death inside her home Friday morning was employed by the Katy Independent School District, deputies and school officials confirmed to Eyewitness News.

The victim’s 41-year-old husband is charged with the murder and is being held by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Neither the victim nor the suspect have been identified.

Deputies received a call around 8.40am from a 39-year-old man who told officers he had stabbed his wife.

The incident happened at a house in the 3200 block of Painted Meadow Circle near Fry Road.

Investigators say the man called a family member before calling 911.

At the scene, deputies found a family member and a 7-year-old boy unharmed. Investigators said the boy was at home at the time of the fatal stabbing.

Deputies said it’s unclear exactly what led to the stabbing, but they believe some sort of altercation took place before the woman was stabbed in the hall of the house.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It’s been an extradental year for domestic violence, this excess of murders that we’ve had that have been linked to domestic violence,” MP Thomas Gilliland said. “I guess it seems a little more than usual lately.”

Deputies said the 7-year-old had been released to family members.

The husband was detained by deputies and is being investigated to determine a motive, investigators said.
