Grand Sierra Resort and Casino makes a major contribution to the children’s cabinet

RENO, Nevada – The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) has donated $25,000 to the Children’s Cabinet. The funds will support the organization’s Redfield Academy, which is dedicated to providing support for young people who might struggle in secondary school and need a more individualized approach.

“GSR has a long history of supporting The Children’s Cabinet and the children and families in our community,” said Kim Young, CEO of The Children’s Cabinet. “We are grateful for the continued support as it enables us to provide case management services to young people at our Redfield Academy.”

As one of Washoe County’s largest employers, GSR provides thousands of jobs for parents with children in the district. Supporting education is a priority for GSR’s ownership and management team. GSR Chief Executive Shannon Keel has been a member of the Children’s Cabinet Board for over three years.

“The Grand Sierra Resort is a proud supporter of The Children’s Cabinet as it is a wonderful resource for children and families in Northern Nevada. It’s a safe, loving place for children to receive services and resources that address unmet needs,” Keel said. “GSR is proud to provide additional resources to enable its programming to continue to thrive. The Children’s Cabinet serves more than 11,000 Nevada families each year and with this donation, we hope they can serve even more. It is a pleasure for us to be able to support a non-profit organization that gives so much back to the community.

The $25,000 donation builds on a recent contribution from GSR Jeans Day, a monthly initiative where employees are allowed to wear jeans and are encouraged to donate to the assigned charity that month.
