‘Final Fantasy XVI’ First Gameplay Trailer Reveals Summer 2023 Release Window | Engadget

Final Fantasy XVI is set to release on PlayStation 5 in summer 2023 – and Square Enix has a new trailer to prove it. The title’s first gameplay trailer introduces the massive monsters called Eikons and the towering humans who inhabit them, and features chaotic cinematic battle scenes in a medieval-inspired world.

FFXVI was officially revealed in September 2020 and the developers promised to provide more information about it by the end of the following year. But in December 2021, the development team announced that the game was nearly six months behind schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that we’ve waited another six months, the gameplay trailer is finally here.

“In our latest trailer, we showcased several new Eikons, as well as a more detailed look at our action-packed combat system and the freedom it affords players,” FFXVI said director Hiroshi Takai on the PlayStation Blog. “As far as development progress is concerned, I’m happy to report that the game is fully playable from start to finish, although from optimization to fine-tuning there are still a mountain of challenges ahead. as we head towards our final push.”

It looks like Square Enix is back on track with its FFXVI development schedule, aiming to release the game on PS5 next summer. It should be exclusive to the PS5 for a limited time.
