The Golden Fire started as a structural fire that spread through the countryside. It had burned more than 10 to 15 acres as of 11:25 a.m., Tahoe National Forest officials said. Highway 49 is closed between Marysville Road and Ridge Road, Caltrans said. The fire burns as a red flag warning remains in effect in Northern California. This means that any fires that start spread more easily due to gusty northerly winds and low humidity.
