Community cabinet on June 14 to mark Stanthorpe’s 150th anniversary

The Queensland Cabinet will meet in Stanthorpe later this month to focus on vital issues and projects for the continued benefit of the community.

The Council of Ministers and the community reception of the 14e of June will also help mark the 150e anniversary which Stanthorpe celebrates in 2022 and showcases the Granite Belt region and its importance to the Queensland economy.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said taking the Cabinet to Stanthorpe further demonstrated how her government was working for all of Queensland.

“The Stanthorpe area is such a special part of Queensland which is why all of our Cabinet Ministers are eager to help mark its 150e anniversary,” said the Prime Minister.

“Bringing the Cabinet to Stanthorpe will allow us to hear first-hand from the Mayor and the local community about the issues and opportunities that are important to the area.

“I am proud of the local investment that our government has made, especially in the areas of health, education, roads and infrastructure.

Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor Vic Pennisi said he was delighted the Prime Minister had decided to bring the Cabinet to Stanthorpe to help celebrate a significant anniversary.

“Earlier this year I wrote to the Prime Minister asking his government to join in Stanthorpe’s 150th anniversary celebrations,” he said.

“I think the community will be delighted to hear that the Premier has decided to bring her entire cabinet together to mark the proclamation of Stanthorpe as a municipality in 1872.

“Our region has so many assets and we look forward to talking with the Prime Minister and Ministers about our priorities when Cabinet comes to town.”
