2022 Stanley Cup Playoff Game 7 live updates: Lightning take on Maple Leafs in huge NHL Saturday

The two most beautiful words in sport? Game 7. Fortunately for hockey fans, Saturday will be filled with excitement as the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs the first round sees three Match 7s on the same day.

Tampa Bay got an extra game after pushing Game 6 into overtime and eventually winning 4-3 against the Toronto Maple Leafs thanks to the Brayden Point goal. It’s been a tight streak with no team winning two in a row so far. Toronto arrives hungry and has something to prove as the Maple Leafs haven’t won a playoff in 18 years. Meanwhile, the Lightning are aiming for a Stanley Cup hat-trick. Their win-win match is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on TNT.

The Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers will close out the night with a showdown at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN and fuboTV (try it for free). There were blowouts and close matches in both arenas, but the main trend was that the team that scored first got the win. Edmonton made Game 7 possible with a 4-2 win on Thursday. Evander Kane scored twice in that game and will likely continue to be key to the Oilers’ offense going forward. The left-winger has seven goals in this series, which puts him tied with Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov and Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel for the NHL lead in this year’s playoffs.

Boston and Carolina opened Saturday’s action at the PNC Arena, and like the first six games of the series, the home team prevailed. The Hurricanes secured their ticket to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with a 3-2 win over the Bruins. Max Domi led the way for Carolina with three points, including two goals in the second period. The Hurricanes have now won six straight Game 7s and next face the Rangers-Penguins series winner, which ends in another Game 7 on Sunday.
